Title The Tic Tac Toe
Inspiration Last year, I went to the auction with my two aunts and I was impressed with all the bricks I saw, and it looked like lots of fun, so I wanted to make a brick this year. My great-grandmother (Nellie Massengale) , on my dad's side, died of breast cancer long before I was born, my grandmother, Jean Gutzweiler (my mom's mother) had breast cancer many years ago and is a survivor, and last year, my Aunt Ava had breast cancer. She is a one-year survivor. I am a third grader at Union Elementary and am 8 years old. I hope I can make a brick every year, because I want to make a difference. I decided to make my brick a game, and since everyone loves tic-tac-toe, I used the pink ribbon to make a tic-tac-toe board, and I provided a bucket full of pink and white stones to play with. I wrote different words on the rocks, like hope and love. I put three pink ribbons on the brick to represent the three different people in my life who have had this cancer and to represent the three different cancers Aunt Ava had in her one breast.
Brick Number 378
Artist Full Name Anna Bachelier
Artist Short Bio I am 9 years old and this is my 2nd year to donate a brick. I have been attending the auctions since 2009, right after my Aunt Ava (dad's sister) had her mastectomy. Since I am the only girl among all boy cousins on Dad's side, I am very close to my aunts. Each year, I look forward to attending the auction with Aunt Ava and Aunt Yvonne. My grandma (Mom's mother) had breast cancer and so did my dad's grandmother. I am in the 4th grade and have one brother, Brandon.
